At Ogilvie Dental in Gloucester, we understand that some people may feel anxiety or fear associated with visiting the dentist.  We know that for these patients, sedation options can help put their mind at ease and create a comfortable dental experience. That is why we offer two different sedation options:

1. Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous Oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” can be used to help you feel calm and relaxed during your dental procedure. Nitrous Oxide is a simple and convenient way to ease your anxiety, and is safe for both adults and children to use.

Unlike other sedation methods, there are no lingering effects of nitrous oxide, and you will be fully able to drive yourself home from your visit, if you choose.

2. Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is administered in pill form, and can help relieve feelings of anxiety during your dental visit. People wishing to use this option will be required to arrive an hour in advance of their appointment to take the sedation medication, and can begin their procedure when the sedation has taken full effect. Patients who choose this option are required to bring a travel companion to their visit who will drive them home safely afterwards.
